The funnel chest orthotics consists of orthotic board and fixed plate and is a kind of surgical device designed in accordance with NUSS procedure, which uses minimal invasive correction surgery to treat children with funnel chests
The funnel chest orthotics of our company uses pure Ti board material. Compared with current medical stainless board material in the market, it has the following distinctive features:
Excellent biocompatibility, unlikely to cause any allergies or stimulus, ensuring a safer implantation
The product has no magnetic property, which would have no effect with magnetic field, ensuring a safer examination like CT and nuclear magnetic resonance
Made of pure Ti, weighted only 56% of the one with stainless material, which significantly relieves the patient’s burden
Easy shaping, more convenient clinical operation, with its mechanic performance similar to the one of medical stainless material
Elastic mould is more close to our natural bone structure, reducing impact to our bone structure
Minimal invasive treatment, little trauma, less bleeding, safer surgery and quick recovery after surgery
2. Scope of Application
Suitable for corrective therapy of congenital funnel chest or children with relapsed funnel chest
3. Precautions
The application of this product shall be determined by professional physician based on the specific conditions of the patient
The specification of funnel chest orthotics shall be determined in accordance with the width of the patient’s thorax
During surgery, orthotics or surgical equipment might damage vital organs like the heart and lung, which might lead to the death of the patient
Like other thoracic surgeries, the application must pay attention to bleeding and removing thoracic gas, place thoracic close drainage when necessary
During surgery, take orthotics board out immediately if it breaks or deforms
After surgery, check the wound on a regular basis to examine its healing and rejection reaction, take out the funnel chest orthotics when necessary
Early-stage pain after surgery is normal, and take painkiller drugs for that
The patient should avoid any strenuous sports and activities within 3 months after the surgery
Take out the funnel chest orthotics two years of the surgery, or follow doctor’s advice. Close observation is necessary for prolonged application.
Funnel chest orthotics shall not be used twice
4. Contraindications
Patients with severe asymmetrical funnel chest
Patients with funnel chest of very severe local depression
Patients with mental disorder, allergies or infectious diseases
Patients lacking of adequate fibrous tissue for rehabilitation
Patients with skin or soft tissue infections around the incision
Patients not suitable for general anesthesia surgery or Nuss surgery
Children with Marfan syndrome or skin and soft tissue infections around the incision
Children with relapsed funnel chest and severe and wide substernal adhesion
